Politicians will immerse themselves in the distribution of fuel subsidies, warned

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) have warned politicians who are immersed in the distribution of fuel subsidies this campaign period.

The warning was made at a press briefing at Camp Crame in connection with election security preparations.

According to COMELEC Spokesperson James Jimenez, politicians caught distributing fuel subsidies will be charged.

Jimenez insisted that only authorized government agencies can distribute fuel subsidy to tricycle operators and drivers and not any politician.

DILG Secretary Eduardo Año said that up to 1.2 million tricycle operators and drivers will get the fuel subsidy based on the list sent by local government units nationwide.

In this regard, the PNP assured that they will monitor the distribution of the fuel subsidy to ensure that it is not used in the campaigning of politicians.
