Just like 2016 when President Rodrigo Duterte visited Leyte, the people of Leyte welcomed presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos.
This was said by Leyte 4th district Representative Lucy Torres-Gomez in an interview with Sonshine Radio.
“Na-experience din namin to during the time of PRRD. I think noong kandidato pa lang si PRRD, ganito rin ‘yung tao. Tapos, ‘yung init kasi na na nakikita natin sa mga rally, ‘yun din kasi ‘yung nararamdaman namin on the ground eh. The support is very organic, ‘yung hindi mo na siya kailangan ilako kasi decided na ‘yung tao,” Leyte 4th district Representative Lucy Torres-Gomez.
The congresswoman, on the other hand, believes that the reception to Uniteam was probably so warm because of its promise to continue President Rodrigo Duterte’s programs in case the next president of the country wins.
“Lahat ng magaganda in the past administration, dapat ipag-patuloy. And, what needs to be improved, i-improve. Hindi tulad na, usually kasi, kahit maganda, para lang mabura mo ‘yung dating administration, puputulin mo na ‘yung magandang programa.So, that’s speak of a very generous spirit na, he is willing to give credit where credit is due, being PRRD has done a lot of good. And, whatever good program he has, he will build up on,” congresswoman added.
On the side of Ormoc City, Leyte Mayor Richard Gomez, he said that Leyte has great support for BBM because the Marcoses have done a lot in the said province.
There is also no mud in the Uniteam's campaign and their only target is to unite the Filipinos.
“Siguro dahil na rin sa marami siguro, through the years na nagawa ng mga Marcos dito, ‘yung paggawa ng San Juanico Bridge, ‘yung pagtyao ng geothermal plants, ‘yung pagtayo ng coppers-melting plant, ‘yung pagtayo ng malaking LMC water supply system dito sa Ormoc City. So, ‘yun siguro ‘yung nakita nakita nila. Alam mo kasi sa dami ng binabato nila kay Bongbong Marcos, itong buong kampanya na ito, itong si Bongbong he just focus on what he wants to do. Hindi na siya nakikipag-engage sa tapunan ng putik,” Ormoc City, Leyte Mayor Richard Gomez
